C3 KINETICO KIDS
OF STEEL TRIATHLON A RECORD SUCCESS
The sun came out, the children from the local area and across the province showed up in record numbers and the 8th Annual Caledon Kinetico Kids of Steel Triathlon was a banner day. Our reason for sponsoring this community event is to see healthy families, said Kinetico President Philip Adsetts. Highlights of the day included the 100 children in the 3 to 6 year old category and the C3 High Performance Team captained by local Caledon triathlon stars Sean Bechtel and Andrew Yorke. Both boys went to school in Caledon, swam for the local Dorado Stars Swim Team and one day hope to represent Canada at the Olympic Games. The Caledon race also acted as the qualifier for the 2009 Canada Games which is being held in Prince Edward Island. C3 athletes won the majority of the races over the day and then spent their free time helping volunteer. The entire C3 operation did an incredible job hosting the event today and race director Stewart Barclay deserves a tremendous amount of respect for his awesome job, said C3 Chairman Rick Jenner.
C3 youth triathlon coach Trudy Dixon has been working with a dozen youngsters who had great performances in the yearly triathlon. Dixon´s summer C3 youth program is continuing on throughout the summer and will include three one week camps in July. Those interested in the youth program, the teen program or the age group summer club workouts should check out the C3 website for more information.

On behalf of the Canadian Cross Training Club and the Race Organizing Committee for the 2008 Kinetico Caledon Kid's of Steel Triathlon held this past Sunday at Caledon Central Public School, I would like to thank our principal sponsor Philip Adsetts and his incredible team at Kinetico Home Water Systems for their support in making this annual community event a reality and a huge success.
I would also like to thank the Benson Family & Benson Steel, Ralph Richter & The Drafting Clinic, Royal Containers, J. C. Clark, Neal Brothers Foods Inc., André Leitert & National Fitness Products, Zehrs of Orangeville, Mr. Sub of Bolton, Great Canadian Bagel Company in Brampton, each of whom also contributed greatly to this event.
The weather was perfect for the 550 participants including 92 children competing in the 3 - 6 age category and many of Ontario's finest junior athletes. There were even a few brave adults who tried their first ever triathlon and made it to the finish line intact and beaming with pride.
I would like to thank the numerous volunteers and in particular the C3 Board of Directors and management team who generously gave up their Sunday, so that children and adults alike could experience the sense of accomplishment in completing a triathlon in a safe & fun environment.
I would also like to express my appreciation to the residents of Caledon Village who were inconvenienced by our road closures and thank them for encouraging & cheering on the competitors as they passed during the race.
I hope to see everyone back next year as a participant, spectator or volunteer.
Regards
Stewart Barclay
