Twelve months ago, Taylor Reid made his move from racing ITU draft legal Olympic racing to the non-drafting format.  Two weeks ago he had the break out
race of his young pro career with a 2nd at 70.3 Mt Tremblant and today raced away with his first pro win at the Challenge St Andrews Half Ironman.
Taylor was 3rd out of the water, first off the bike and won by nearly 9 minutes.  His winning time of 3hrs 54 minutes was the second fastest time
ever over the Challenge New Brunswick race.  To make things even more special his mother Peggy & Father Jim (both in the picture with Taylor)
also did the race as well.  The C3 Trio were joined by many other C3 members who filled the podium all day long.

Two years ago, Lionel won his first pro race at 70.3 Muskoka. Its the race that put him on the charts.  Today, he set a new bike record and cruised to an easy 10+ minute win in Muskoka and put down the second fastest time ever on the course (the course record is his from 2 years ago).  Lionel's own motherBecky also had a great race in Muskoka.  Lionel had many of his C3 age group-team-mates in the Muskoka event.  Kudos to all who raced in Muskoka

Three time Word Champion Melanie McQuaid was the first athlete off the bike and led till the penalty box 100m from the finishing line.  Given a 5 minute penalty, Kristen Marchant
ran by her in the penalty box to win the race.  In a post-race decision, officials over-turned the penalty and gave the win to McQuaid and the silver to C3's Kristen Marchant. None the less it was a very solid day for the young C3 female athlete and her first pro pay cheque of her young career.  Marchanthad to look over her shoulder as USA superstar Jillian Petterson was only 23 seconds behind at the finishing line.  Marchant was top 6 last week in Philidephia and today her silver gives her first pro pay check.  American 70.3 Championships on May 2nd in St. George Utah. Stay tuned.

C3 turned up and rocked the competition at the Challenge St Andrews Half.  First across the line after Taylor & Kristen from C3 was 59 year old Hans Porten.  Just 6 months after his cancer surgery, Hans broke 5hrs for the half and was the top master on the day. He ran an amazing 1hr 36min split on his 21km run in the half ironman. Not to be out done by Hans, 62 year old Denise Ross smashed her competition in the women's 60 category with a win and a sub 1hr 50min run split as well.  Other wins on the day came from Mike Drake (65-69), Bob Knuckey in the Aqua Bike.  Anne Wilkie had a silver and Lisa Petters an incredible 3rd place finish in the very competitive 45-49 category.  The C3 Bishop-Shepley team were top six with Caron, Jill and TIm.  Kudos to all who raced and had incredible performances in St Andrews.
