RECORD NUMBER FOR C3’S MID-WEEK SEASON DEBUT

The C3 Open Water Swim Race # 1 saw a record number of participants for the mid-week (Wed night) event.  Over 100 swimmers hit the water in races from 400m up to 10km.  The evening included near perfect weather, pumped up music over the PA system, a great live BBQ and some great draw prizes from C3 and Skechers.  The Dalbec Family led the day with Bailey Dalbec winning the 4km race overall (56;30), her younger sister Cassandra winning the 2km junior division (28:29) and their mother Lisa Morch winning the 50-54 category 2km race (35:58).  Bob Hayes had the day’s most impressive swim with a 2hr 18 minute swim for the 10km mega distance on the day.  Roberta Gjaltema had the women’s impressive 10km swim victory in 2hrs 55 minutes.  The closest swim race of the day was in the women’s 2km overall race where 2x World Triathlon Champion Kristen Marchant edged out Canada Summer Games Junior Triathlete Cassandra Dalbec by 10 seconds over 2km.  George Milne was the day’s most experienced swimmer at 85 years old in the men’s 1km wetsuit division.

C3 will be hosting a July version of the race on Wed night July 26th.   The new mid-week format seems to have found a spot in the lives of the busy swimmers by allowing them to get a big race knocked off their schedule during the middle of the week and use it as good speed workout.   Still time to register for the Wed July 26th event at www.c3online.ca
